Welcome to our school’s website. In Moneystown National School we take enormous pride in being a small rural school playing an enormous role in our community.
As you will read on the page detailing the history of our school, we have a long standing place in the heart of the village of Moneystown. On a number of occasions our school faced closure, however the community have always rallied to keep the school open. Today we have five mainstream classrooms and a special class for children with autism serving 115 children in the local community and beyond.
The children and the families of the children are at the heart of everything we do. We provide a caring, warm environment for the children to grow and learn, not just academically but as young citizens of our locality, country and the world.
Our staff know each and care for every child. We work in constant partnership with the parents and guardians of the children to provide an education in a safe, nurturing and inclusive atmosphere. This partnership between home school is pivotal to the development of the children in our care. We extend a warm welcome to any new families to the area and they are quickly adopted into our school community.
We teach the children in the spirit of our motto ‘ Festina Lente’ which means to hasten slowly. We believe that children learn best in an environment which is calm and allows the child to progress at their own individual pace. In addition we foster the theme of ‘Kind Hands, Kind Words and Kind Feet’ in everything we do. We encourage the children to choose words and actions that show kindness to each other and their environment.
